Although I am best known for my Landscape and Nature Images, I actually got started in photography shooting adventure sports like rock climbing and mountain biking.
I have instead gone back to where I started and began shooting sports again and have rediscovered some of the energy that has been missing from my work of late.
Here are a selection of images taken over the last few months here in California and Nevada.
A new year and plenty of new work to show. I was gone for almost two months during the fall on a trip that took me
from the sunny beaches of California to the rocky coastline of Maine.
I will be unveiling a number of new limited edition prints at the Desert Arts Festivals in Palm Springs.
Dates:
January 19-20th
February 2-3rd
February 16-18th

I usually head out on a long bike ride.
What was your major or field of study in college? Did you wind up working in that field or using that degree? If not, what field have you wound up in?

Two weeks after leaving California I find myself in New York City.
Fifteen states, seven National Parks, four National Monuments, one National Lakeshore, two State Parks, elk, deer, bison, prairie dogs, pika, one blizzard, four thunderstorms, 40-50 hiking miles, 75 Mt.biking miles and what's left of Hurricane Ernesto is supposed to hit sometime tonight.
I've exposed 1000+ frames. Some good, some bad, hopefully a couple that will sell well enough to pay for the trip.
Two weeks back to California for a week of relaxation rock climbing.
I've finally managed to clear the schedule enough to get out on the road.

I should be able to start uploading new work in early October. I'm going to try and update here on my progress, but I will be limited by connectivity most of the time.
I was going through my files today and came across some of my images from Iraq. Children mostly. Faces that came into my viewfinder while covering missions near As Samawah and An Najaf during 2003.
I often wonder how many of these people are still alive and whether I would be able to interact with them now the way I did then.
I remember thinking to myself that I'd like to go back and visit these towns and villages in five or ten years to see them again. Maybe bring along prints to share with those who allowed me to capture their image.
The children would be older. Hopefully happy to see themselves. Maybe remembering that day that the American took their picture, maybe not.
Seeing the news today and talking to friends who are in Iraq now, I have to wonder if the day will ever come that veterans will be able to visit the sites of memories that most could never understand.
Will there ever be a time when I can return to Iraq and see a vibrant society the way Korea War Veterans do when they visit Seoul. Will there ever be a 50th Anniversery Commemoration of the invasion the way there was for D-Day.
Or do the wounds run too deep at this point? Has the death and violence created a rift that will never mend?
I don't look at these images very often. They are in my files for a future exhibition and I've got five or six ready for printing. But the story isn't done being written and until it is, I don't think these images will be finished. The dream I have is that I will return someday to take the now pictures of all these people.
I wonder if that will be possible.
The Long Beach Artwalk is this weekend at the Pike at Rainbow Harbor in Long Beach, California.
I will be showing new work at the festival including the image shown here.
The show is sponsored by West Coast Artists and will feature up to 100 artists from throughout the world, displaying paintings, ceramics, photography, sculpture, glass, jewelry and mixed media.
If you are in the area and would be interested in seeing some of my prints, I invite everyone to stop by and say hello.
